Are the Hot Glass Encounters private or will there be other people in my group?

We only schedule one large group at a time, however, if you are booking for just 1 or 2 people, there may be another group of 2 back in the hot shop at the same time.  But don’t worry, each group will have there own glassblower, bench and tools.

If I’m booking a group, do we all have to make the same item?

No - each person can choose whatever item they’d like.

Do I have to have experience to participate in the Hot Glass Encounter?

No, our Hot Glass Encounters are beginner friendly. Our glassblowers will assist you during the entire experience, while still allowing you to be extremely hands on.

How far in advance should I book?

Our Encounters fill up fast! We highly recommend calling ASAP to book. Our weekends can book up about 2 months in advance, while our weekdays (Thurs-Fri) can book up about 2-3 weeks in advance.

Can I bring a young child to participate?

Absolutely! For children you must be at lease 8 years old, we require a parent / guardian to complete a majority of the work while the child helps intermittently.

Can someone that is not making an item still come to watch & take photos?

Yes. You are more than welcome to bring a friend or family member to watch your experience & take photos / videos.

Do I have to decide what I’m making at the time of booking?

No - you select your item once you arrive at our store. We have a case of customer made examples for you to look at before making a decision. What we do need to know at the time of booking is how many items each person will be making, as this will determine how much time is reserved for your group.

Can I make more than one item?

Yes, you can make more than one item. We would just need to know that at the time of booking so we can reserve the appropriate amount of time for you.

Does the price of the item include everything? (materials, etc.)

Yes, the only additional cost would be tax.

What should I wear?

Dress comfortably. Please wear closed toe shoes to your experience. Long hair should be tied back.

Can I pick my own colors?

Of course! Our Hot Glass Encounters are meant for you to create your own one-of-a-kind piece of art. Our glassblowers will show you all of the color options at the time of your appointment.

Should I arrive earlier than my appointment time?

We suggest arriving 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled time to allow for paperwork & selecting what item you’d like to make.

I’m booking a larger group, can we bring food & drink?

Absolutely! Let us know at the time of booking. If you would like tables and chairs please let us know at time of booking so we can have them set up for your arrival.

How long does it take to make an item?

Not every item takes the full 30 minutes to make, however we book our experiences in half hour increments to allow sufficient time for you to choose your colors and for our glassblowers to go over safety instructions.

Can I use my Warner Art Glass gift certificate to pay for the Hot Glass Encounter?

How involved am I actually going to be in creating a piece?

The customer does a majority of the work under the supervision and guidance of our glassblowers. If at any point you may feel uncomfortable, simply let the glassblowers know & they can assist you as much as you’d like.

If I come alone, can someone take pictures with my phone?

Just give us a heads up and we will be sure a staff member is available to capture your experience.

When can I pick up my piece?

Items made with hot glass need time to cool in our annealer. Therefore, your piece can be picked up as early as 2 business days after your appointment. We can ship items if needed - the cost is $15 per household plus $5 per each item after the first.

Do I actually have to blow in order to do glassblowing?

Some items (ornaments, pumpkins, bowls, vases and wine glasses) involve blowing into a tube. A brand new, disposable mouthpiece is attached to the tube for each person. Other items (paperweights, jellyfish, hearts, flowers, apples and acorns) involve hot sculpting. This includes using tools to pull, twist and shape the glass.

Can I make something different? Seasonal Items?

No, we only offer the items listed on our glassblowing page to be made during our Hot Glass Encounters.

Do you offer group rates?

Unfortunately, we do not offer group rates.

What if I can't make my appointment?

If you can't make it to your appointment please contact us ASAP so we can try to reschedule your appointment and to allow other customers the opportunity to try and get that time slot.

Should I tip my glassblower?

It is absolutely not expected by any means, but if you feel you had an exceptional experience, it would certainly be appreciated by your glassblower.
